Baby's First Christmas!!

Asher's first Christmas- I blinked and it came and went.  He seemed to enjoy himself as much as a 6-month old can and appears to be enamored by two toys so far: his Sit-to-Stand Learning Walker (good job Santa) and Scout (thanks Gpa Larry!).

Although, let it be noted that I do want to teach Asher that Christmas is about more than toys. I realize I will not be a popular mom as he gets older- LOL!

Our favorite of Asher's presents were his new tub and toys!!  He was getting so big for his baby tub that Auntie Belinda and Uncle Nick couldn't have had better timing.  Yay!!
Yet I do have to say that our wonderful family just spoiled him with presents- lucky boy!!

There are so many things I can't wait to show and teach him about Christmas!  I need to make sure to slow down and be very intentional so I don't let each Christmas just fly by as he gets older.  So exciting!
Mommy, Daddy, and your family love you so much Little Moo and we hope you had a great day!!

Asher- 6 months old

On December 11th Asher turned 6 months old!!
Here are some of the things Ash is up to:
At Asher’s 1 week checkup for his Doc Band, he was doing great!  They brought out a mold of his head originally- amazing how they can do that from 3D pictures taken- and we really could see a noticeable improvement!  His week 2 and 3 appointments went just as well.
He LOVES his jumpy!
Asher's new friend is a little reindeer stuffed toy I had with the Christmas decorations.  So much for other toys I bought him for Christmas presents!!
His other favorite stuffed toy is Mr. Bear.  (Yes, we do choose original names.)
I catch Asher staring at me often.  No, it’s not creepy. :-)   I hope he is realizing that I am his mommy and I love him to the moon and back!!
He does not like to be carried or held like a baby.  He’s growing up so fast!
He is so hard to change- he kicks on the changing table like crazy!!
He has been the king of the half hour nap.  I guess you can’t really even call that a nap.  He has taken 2 to 3 of those a day.  Yet over the past few days (right around turning 6 months) he has started extending at least one or two naps to an hour or more.  Yay!!  He is still a wonderful night sleeper and we wake him after 12 hours to eat most mornings.
To self-soothe he crosses his arms over his mouth and sucks on his hands/wrists. He often falls asleep in this position too.
Here is a video I got of him waking up the other morning.  Love his happy morning talking.  So cute!!
I thought he may become a thumb sucker, yet it's rare that I've seen him do it lately. His gums hurt so much he seems to chew mostly on toys, his hands, our fingers, or burp rags.
Asher is very in to watching us when we eat or drink.  The other day he seemed to really like looking at a Pepsi can- too funny!
He is mostly in size 3 diapers.  (We are still finishing up some 2s.)

He is currently in 6 and 6-9 month clothes, yet I will need to retire most 6-month items any day now.  He’s a big boy!

Nov 16- He tried baby oatmeal.  He seemed to like it better than the rice.  We’re making progress!!
Nov 19- Asher had his first babysitter; my good friend Liz.  So, basically it was like a family member was watching him after all.
Playing at Liz's- so much fun!
Dec 5- He held the bottle all on his own.
Dec 11- Asher tried bananas for the first time.  He really seemed to like them and kept opening his mouth for more.
This is one of my favorite recent pictures of him.  Makes me smile every time.

Santa!!

Ahh yes, Asher's first introduction to Santa.  Let's just say he sure took hold of the situation; by taking a firm hold of Santa's beard!!
Brandon and I were so proud that he had done so well waiting in line for his turn.  He never fussed once!  I was nervous that he would cry, but he did great!  He was so comfortable with this poor man that he latched right on to his beard and tugged!  And this kid has quite a grip- I know from personal experience as he latches on to my hair often.  The situation couldn't have been funnier if we tried.
A fun, yet tiring day for little Asher.  Love this kid!!

Happy Half Birthday Asher!

I can't believe our little man is 6 months today!!  Asher celebrated by exploring the Christmas tree, practicing sitting up, taking 3 one-hour naps (this is really good for him) and trying bananas!  He topped off the night by hanging with his friends at church.  All in all I'd say he had a great day. :-)

His post-banana bliss.  He really seemed to like them!

Introducing…Ninnymuggins!!

Oh what fun it is... to have an Elf!!
We realize that Elves usually make their way to a house when kids are a bit older than Asher, but we have an Elf that just couldn't wait!  Meet Ninnymuggins!  Now while it's usually the job of the kids to quickly name the Elf, an exception was made for Brandon to name him.  So, for good or bad, he is forever Ninnymuggins!!
Asher is mesmerized by Ninnymuggins and loves to see where he moves to.
I love this Christmas season and can't express how awesome it is with Asher in our lives!!  Showing him our tree and decorations has been so fun.  The idea of seeing things through his eyes used to be an abstract idea to me, but now I truly get it.  He is so innocent and pure and I can't wait to show him and help him experience all that Christmas has to offer- including Jesus coming into the world for us.
I hope we all find some silly (like Ninnymuggins) and some truth (in Jesus) this Christmas.

Thanksgiving

We had some extended fun this year and celebrated Thanksgiving twice!!
We went over to Auntie Adrianne's on Thursday for lots of family fun.

On Friday we spent time at Auntie Jen's.
Uncle Ryan worked on Thursday,
so we decided to keep the fun and food going on Friday!
Love the boys matching outfits!!
Please ignore the narration- I'm not sure what my voice was doing. :-)
