Asher- 7 months old

On January 11th, Asher turned 7 months old!

Here are some things Ash is up to.

Food, Glorious Food!!
Asher's top food picks!! (Ok so they are Asher's only choices so far.)
6.  Green beans- tried on Dec 19th ; we had tears after this one once, so I’d say it’s a distant 6th place.  Don't worry though, he was happy again in no time!

5.  Peas- tried on Dec 15th
4.  Yellow squash- tried on Dec 26th
3.  Prunes- tried Jan 8th
2.  Avocado- tried on Dec 28th
1.  Bananas and cereal- tried Dec 11th
Asher really doesn’t seem all that interested in food yet. Now don’t get me wrong, he loves to eat, but leaves his joy for his bottle.  Trust me, he’s in the upper 60s when it comes to his weight percentile, so he’s not lacking overall.  So far he has liked avocados the best.  Yet, I’m pretty sure bananas are still his favorite though.

Since he turned 6-months, he’s done a great napping in the pack-and-play.  Many 2+ hour naps a day.  I guess he likes separate sleeping areas for day and night.

Asher still loves books and thinks Sandra Boynton books are the best!!  Thanks to Christmas presents, we have added more to his collection.

He is in all 9-month jammies and still some 6 and 6-9 month clothes.

Yet his biggest accomplishment is cutting his first tooth!  We could feel it on December 23rd.  Overall, the whole teething thing hasn’t been terrible, but I know we are just beginning.  I just feel so bad for him when I know his mouth hurts.  We keep plenty of toys around for him to chew on and I give him teething tablets as well.  He got tooth #2 around the 4th of January!!

Thanks to Auntie Belinda, Asher has a new bathtub and loves it!  He is really getting into playing with bath toys.

Rollin in my stroller.  Ash graduated to a big boy stroller before Christmas. I was having a tough time carrying him in the carrier and he was just getting too darn big for it. Man this kid is growing! Next stop- new car seat.

He took his first ride in a grocery cart. He loved it and loved chewing on the strap of the cart cover. I love that even though he has access to toys the safety strap is his favorite.  I forgot to take a picture of this, so that will be coming soon.

Asher is becoming very observant.  He loves to really check things out and also to touch them.  He seems fascinated by the textures of things.  Whether it’s my face or the bark of a tree, he reaches out and wants to explore.  Good job Moo-Man!

We took another trip to California the first of the year.  My Grandma, Leone Grover, went to Heaven to join my grandpa right before Christmas.  Exactly 3 months to the day after he passed.  We are sad and miss her very much, yet cherish the times we have together as an extended family with my aunt, uncle and cousins.

On to the fun stuff:

New Year's Day fun.

He loves to go the the park in our neighborhood and swing.

Tom Cruise in Risky Business ain't got nothing on Asher!!

Deck the Halls

I've loved having the house all festive and decorated for Christmas!

I hosted Christmas Eve dinner for the family and all went great! Each year my amazingly talented husband sings at the Highlands Church Christmas Eve service and this year was no exception.  We all gathered to enjoy some time at church and then headed back to the house for a yummy dinner.

Don't we look great?!
Here were some fun centerpieces I made.  I really try to take advantage of fresh cranberries this time of year.  No, I haven't made my own sauce, but instead I use them as decorations.  The top greenery is actually rosemary, but I think it really looks like pine.

Here are the cranberry filled mason jars again, yet this time transformed for New Year's Eve.  Brandon said he read that the term "deck the halls" traditionally referred to New Year's, as opposed to Christmas, which is good since I'm writing this closer to New Year's Eve.

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
