Pre-Baby Getaway

Boy, did we time this right!!!
Brandon and I wanted to take advantage of his Spring Break time to get away for just a couple of days.  We also knew that it would be the last opportunity to do so before our sweet girl arrived.
So, we headed to San Diego, which I love.  (Plus, flying was not an option for me.)
We had such a great time!! And, I felt really good for those 2 days- not the norm for me.  We chose the Gaslamp Quarter because I think it's super cute.  Also great was a free hotel- thanks to all the traveling B has done lately.  We walked around, took our time, and enjoyed everything.  To top it off, we had one of the best dinner's we've ever had.  Brandon would say it was the best for him.  The Water Grill.  If you are ever in SD you should really check it out.  Everything we had was great!!  And you have to try the Chilean Sea Bass- to die for!
Such a great weekend!!

Big Boy and Baby Girl

As baby girl is on her way, we wanted to make sure that Asher had a very special big boy room.  We actually got everything set up the end of December.  I went with a transportation theme. He loves it!!
I'm also excited that I was able to use a solid wood armoire and nightstand that have been in my family since I was little.

We then turned Asher's old room into Maggie's nursery.  I really surprised myself when I found out I was having a girl and decided I wanted all things pink and frilly.  (I was very against "cutesy" baby stuff with Ash.)  We combined some old and new pieces and I really like how it turned out.

Asher's Loves- 2 1/2 years old

My sweet boy is growing up so fast!
I want to make sure I record some things that he loves in this stage of his life- 2 1/2 years old. While it seems I should remember as they are present almost every day, I know my brain will need a bit of help someday. :-)

New Year's Eve

At home.  With friends.  Go to sleep early.
This is my kind of New Year's Eve fun!
We had a great time having 3 families over, eating some white chicken chili (a crowd favorite) and then calling it a night around 8pm.  Hey, we all have kids 4 or under.  Oh and can I say Netflix is genius?? They put some kid friendly countdowns up that could be played at any time.  We chose a Madagascar one with dancing music (Ash still loves to dance) followed by a countdown and the kids got their New Year's experience!!

Christmas

I know, I know, but better late than never.
Asher loved Christmas this year!! He loved everything about it from the lights, to the food and "special treats," to (of course) Santa and presents.
We hosted our annual family Gingerbread Party.  He did a great job decorating his giant gingerbread man- so much fun!

We had a great party at Auntie Adrianne's house and Ash was mesmerized and super excited when Santa showed up!  He loved Santa so much he didn't understand why he didn't come home with us. (This child has never been scared of Santa one bit.)    

Christmas Eve afternoon was spent at church.  Asher couldn't get enough of the petting zoo and choo-choo train.  Yes, we do it up right.  The service was very moving and I had fun and was super proud of my talented hubby's singing.  (I'll always have a special place in my heart for our Christmas service as that is how B and I met in 2010.)

Then of course we had a wonderful dinner when we got home- my mom's specialty. We also may have opened a few gifts with my sis and her family. Let the fun start early!
Christmas Day brought more joy for Asher as the balance bike he asked Santa for was finally sitting under the tree!  He asked when it would arrive probably once a day before that.  The mood was only dampened when he realized that Santa wasn't still there, nor was he staying with us.  Oh boy- this child's love of Santa.

Christmas afternoon we went to Aunt B's house.  We loved having them here from Colorado. The boys all have so much fun together; such a special time.

We made it to the train park, but after Christmas.  He so loves it there.  And boy does he love costumed characters!  Again, not scared at all.
